Consider your essence as light rays rising from center to center up the vertebrae, and so rises ‘livingness’ in you.
Instruction: eyes closed, imagine your whole being as light; raise it from the sex center (base of the spine) up through five centers - sex, navel, heart, between the eyebrows, Sahasrar (crown) - as a river of rising rays. Not mere fancy: everything, you included, actually is light, so you are picturing a reality.
The lever is imagination, not will (will is impotent for sex). Energy naturally flows DOWN, earthward, by gravity (sex is the most earthly thing in you; astronauts beyond gravity report sexuality dissolving). Because it obeys imagination, you can reverse it upward - a jump beyond the circle.
Only the physical part (semen) cannot rise - there is no passage - which is what Western physiologists rightly deny. But that is just the body of the energy; the psychic part is the real sex energy, and IT travels the spinal channel.
Per-center marker: warmth where the light arrives - the navel grows hot (others can feel the heat on your skin); at the heart the heartbeat changes and breathing deepens. Real physical signs, not imagined.
Progress up the column: the sex center, first excited (an erection is a GOOD sign - energy alive and moving, not a fault; don’t be scared), then cools and silences as energy rises while heat migrates up. At the head: dizziness, possible nausea (head not yet acquainted), even sudden unconsciousness - yogic sleep (yoga tandra), never more than forty-eight minutes, leaving you fresher than the deepest sleep. Fear none of it.
At the Sahasrar: picture the thousand-petalled lotus opening, energy pouring into the cosmos - the spiritual orgasm (highest meeting highest), counterpart of the sexual (lowest meeting lowest); the sex center now wholly cool, an unfamiliar coldness following. Can be done during the sex act, making intercourse tantra sadhana.
Safety: never stop midway. Energy stranded at a center becomes a wound and can cause mental illness; it MUST reach the head and be released every time. Secure total privacy and no interruption first.
Prerequisite - feeling, not inference: most fail by approaching it intellectually and nothing happens. The patient who said she felt the hand was only inferring; real feeling is pressure and warmth. Revive sensation first - crawl after a toddler on all fours for an hour, feel the carpet, the shower drop by drop, touch your own body lovingly, hear sounds without labeling. No feeling-imagination, no result.
Q-and-A sharpening: feeling/awareness comes only by doing, never by thinking about it; begin in ordinary acts (walk, eat). Do an act once mechanically, then with full alertness, and feel the difference - that difference IS the feeling required. One genuine moment is a real taste; don’t quit when you forget - the seed is already whole in you, awareness only orders your chaos into a symphony.

The practitioner takes the sexual-vital essence (jing) that naturally flows downward (the ejaculatory/earthward loss) and, using inner attention/visualization (yi) explicitly contrasted with muscular force, REVERSES it upward (the defining neidan principle of 逆/reversal) along the spine from the genital/perineal base through sequential nodes to the crown (Bai Hui). Shared with VBT-70: same starting point (sex center), same lever (imagination, not will), same upward spinal channel, same expected sign (heat migrating upward through the body), the same explicit framing of 'reversing the natural downward flow,' and a during-the-sexual-act application in Taoist dual cultivation. Genuine differences keep it a variant rather than equivalent: the full Microcosmic Orbit is a closed circuit that continues back DOWN the front Ren channel (VBT is one-way to crown release — only higher 'spirit exits the crown' stages match the release), the stations are Du-channel gates (weilu/jiaji/yuzhen) rather than the chakra map, and the Secret of the Golden Flower 'circulating the light' is principally consciousness-light, so the light equation is supportive rather than exact. The core technique — reverse sexual essence up the spine by inner attention, heat as the marker — is recognizably one method.
variantBuddhism (Tibetan Vajrayana) · Tummo / candali inner-heat completion-stage practice: raising the red bodhicitta up the central channel (avadhuti) to the crown (Six Yogas of Naropa, Anuttarayoga Tantra)This matches every distinctive feature of VBT-70 and is the stronger correspondence, sharing the same Indian tantric subtle-body lineage. The practitioner works with the red bodhicitta — explicitly the psychic-energetic component of sexual energy, NOT the physical fluid (exactly VBT's distinction: only the psychic part travels the channel) — and, by visualization alone (the winds follow the mind, not the will), reverses the normally-downward-lost drop UPWARD through the central channel via a near-identical chakra map (secret/sex, navel, heart, throat, crown vs. VBT's sex, navel, heart, eyebrows, crown). Heat is the primary expected sign (tummo literally means inner heat) migrating up center by center — VBT's exact per-center marker. At the crown the rising element meets the white drop producing mahasukha (great bliss) — VBT's 'spiritual orgasm, highest meeting highest, counterpart of the sexual.' It is performed during intercourse as karmamudra, matching VBT's note that it can be done during the sex act, 'making intercourse tantra sadhana.' Differences that make it a variant, not equivalent: the candali fire is ignited at the navel (short-A syllable) rather than purely raised from the base, the climactic bliss involves bidirectional drops (the white bodhicitta also descends through the four joys), and the visualization adds syllables, channel geometry, and the bliss-emptiness framing instead of 'light.' These are elaborations of the same gesture, mechanism, locus, and aim — a practitioner would recognize them as one method.

(VBT 71 is merely the discrete-jump variant of the same multi-center system; 70 is the primary home.)

The Merkavah practitioner visualizes ascent through seven defined hekhalot, each higher and more luminous, to the throne at the summit. The shared and rare gesture is graded VISUALIZED ascent through ordered, numbered stations, each qualitatively more refined, culminating at the highest point — and 70 is the only ascent-through-ordered-stations technique in the 112. The substrate differs (body-spine vs. cosmic architecture), so the match is structural rather than literal, but assigning 0 would be a false 'no home': the ascent gesture genuinely lives in 70.

VBT 70 raises consciousness 'as light rays rising from center to center up the vertebrae' (sex -> navel -> heart -> brow -> crown). The deliberate traversal of consciousness through successive spinal loci is the mechanism of Antaryatra -- the 'internal trip' channelling the flow up the spinal passage. Preferable to VBT 14 (static attention on the spinal cord) because Antaryatra is a journey/movement, not a fixed point. Antaryatra can also descend and need not be visualized as light, but the core upward center-to-center movement is the same.
