Consider any area of your present form as limitlessly spacious.
- Mechanism: Mind can function only within defined limits and narrowness. Introduce the limitless — an infinite, unbounded expanse — and thinking cannot co-exist with it; it stops automatically. The narrower the mind, the better it thinks; when it becomes total space, there is no thinking at all. Buddha under the Bodhi tree: his head has become the whole cosmos — he is not thinking at all.
- The practice: Close eyes, relax. Begin with the head (recommended: it is the base of all illness). Imagine it spreading to fill the room — feel the skin actually touching the walls, feel their coolness and pressure. Then the house enters your head. Then the whole town. Then the sun rises inside your head. Work gradually; within three months you can reach full infinite expansion. The imagination must become so vivid you cannot tell it from real.
- What disappears: Name, identity, disease, misery — all belong to the finite form. Bring the form to infinite and they have no home; they vanish. This is the experiential ground from which Mansoor cried ‘ANALAHAK — I am God’ while being killed, hands cut off, laughing: ‘You cannot murder me, I am the whole. If you wanted to kill me, come ten years earlier — then I was. Now I am no more.’ Then return to the finite body — but now you can laugh, carrying the feel of the infinite into the finite.
- Test for suitability before starting (30% of people): Lock both hands and imagine for 5 minutes they absolutely cannot open. Then try. If they will not open — this technique is yours. Unlock the same way (imagine unlocked); don’t strain, the more you try the harder it gets. Suitable types: uneducated, imaginative, dreaming, non-analytical minds; many women. Heavy formal education suppresses creative imagination by converting the mind into a storage bank.
- Pitfall — chemical vs. spiritual expansion: Drugs force a glimpse of boundlessness but you are not the master; returning, you find the body even narrower, addiction follows. This technique is a ‘spiritual psychedelic’: you become more and more the master of it. The criterion for any practice — mastery must grow. Anything that enslaves is not spiritual, whatever its appearance. When meditation has truly happened, you will not even need to do it.
- Q4 — same instrument reversed: Auto-suggestion and imagination already created the finite ego-world — that was hypnosis, a conditioning process of increasing unconsciousness. This technique uses the identical instrument in the opposite direction: de-conditioning, de-hypnosis, increasing awareness. Same path, opposite direction. The way you traveled into the dark is the only way back.
- Q4 — the candle experiment (grasp the full spectrum): For 7 days, in a dark room, stare unblinking at a candle and let the thought float ‘I am falling asleep, my limbs are relaxing, the body is growing heavy.’ Within minutes lids become heavy, limbs numb, consciousness descends — feel the full arc of hypnosis downward. Then for 7 days: same candle, same stare, new thought: ‘I am becoming more alert, the body is becoming weightless.’ Consciousness surges upward. Both processes are identical; only direction differs. This technique lives on the upward arc.
- Q4 — thought as seed: A thought held continuously and with intensity condenses into reality — it stops being mere imagination and restructures consciousness. So the imagined infinity, sustained, actually works; it is not fantasy. The seed to hold unbroken here: ‘I am infinite, boundless.’
